Before scalp procedure

Before your treatment begins can you please do the following:

  • Commencing 14 days prior to the treatment please apply moisturising cream to your scalp on a daily basis. Nivea after-sun moisturiser or any non-perfumed moisturiser is acceptable. This will help eliminate any dry or damaged skin you may have and enable us to get the best results possible.

  • If you wear a hair system please try to come to the clinic without this and wear a hat or cap.

  • If you use hair concealer please try not to apply this on the day of treatment and wear a hat or cap to the clinic.

  • Do not wet-shave or razor-shave your existing hair on the day of treatment unless this is already your daily routine.

  • Please attend the clinic 30 minutes prior to your treatment in order that all additional paper work can be completed and so that we can offer you a hot or cold drink to help you relax.

  • No alcohol or drugs are to be consumed prior to your treatment, with the exception of prescribed medication. If our practitioner suspects you may be under the influence you will be refused treatment.

  • On the date of your treatment if you are running late please notify the clinic so we can advise the practitioner. Please note this could impact on your session time and your session may have to be re-booked. Failure to notify us adequately of time-changes or missing your session may result in you losing your deposit.

  • Please feel free to bring somebody along with you to the clinic for moral support if required, they are welcome to come into the treatment area and speak to the practitioner before the session begins. During the treatment session they can relax in the waiting room where drinks will be offered.

After & Between SMP procedure

This advice helps ensure that optimum results are achieved following your SMP treatment and we strongly recommend that these guidelines are followed.

These notes are in addition to any individual aftercare advice that your practitioner may have given you.

For the first four days after your session:

  • Avoid touching, showering and shaving the treated area

  • Do not let other people touch the treated area

  • Avoid using shampoo or moisturiser on the treated area

  • Avoid direct sunlight

  • Avoid activities that cause excessive sweating

  • Avoid swimming/steam room/saunas

From day five after your SMP session you should:

  • Shower the treated area using a mild shampoo

  • Avoid growing hair too long as this 3D effect may look odd and could be obvious compared to your 2D SMP treatment

  • Apply moisturising cream twice daily to prevent dryness and flaking skin. E.g. Nivea after-sun or a non-perfumed natural moisturiser. This is very important and could impact on further sessions if it is not carried out

  • Use an electric razor to shave your head. The Remington R91 or a hair clipper is recommended.

The day prior to your next SMP session you should:

  • Wash your scalp with warm water; this will remove any dead skin cells.

  • Please make sure hair is cut to the required length that the practitioner recommended. (This is usually grade 0-1).

Subsequent sessions will take place on the recommendation of the practitioner and booked with you accordingly. They normally take place 7-21 days after the previous session

Contraindications against the procedure

Infections, active diabetes, psoriasis, taking steroids
